When it comes to a mattress company that is committed to natural and sustainable components, it’s hard to surpass PlushBeds.

All of the materials used in the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) that require rigorous adherence to specific production principles. The company boasts a handful of additional certifications for the safety of their materials.

By using high-end latex, the Botanical Bliss mattress achieves an excellent mattress feel as well. Available in 3 choices of height, the bed gives plenty of spinal support while preserving the bounce that latex is known for.

For customers who want a responsive and comfortable mattress without filler or hazardous chemicals, the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss mattress jumps to the top of the list.

All three models — the 9”, 10”, and 12” — are offered in two firmness choices: Medium and Firm.

As delivered and before any adjustments, the Medium models fall around a 5.5 on the firmness scale while the Firm models are around a 7.

Each mattress is composed of multiple layers of latex, each of which has a specific firmness feel. The Medium mattress, for example, ships with a medium top layer, a middle layer that is slightly firmer, and then an even firmer bottom layer. Customers who want a firmer sleeping surface can rearrange these layers to put a firmer one on top.

The Firm mattress comes with a layer that is Extra-Firm that can be arranged within the mattress.

The 12” model, with four total layers of latex, has the greatest number of potential firmness options because of the increased ways that the layers can be stacked.

The Botanical Bliss mattresses are available for purchase directly from PlushBeds on their website.

These mattresses can also be purchased on Amazon.

There are three materials used in the Botanical Bliss mattresses. The cover is made with GOTS-certified cotton that has GOTS-certified wool fill from New Zealand sheep. The interior is made with Dunlop latex that is GOLS-certified.

Dunlop latex is denser than Talalay latex, which is the other process used to make latex that is used in mattresses. As a result, it is durable, has a firmer feel, and is quite resilient, meaning that it provides significant bounce. The Dunlop method also requires less energy to produce, reducing its carbon footprint.

The layers are composed differently to achieve the three mattress models.

9″ Model

  1. The cover is 1” thick and is made with organic cotton over organic wool batting.
  2. The second layer is 3” of organic Dunlop latex.
  3. The third layer is 2” of organic Dunlop latex.
  4. The bottom layer is 2” of organic Dunlop latex.

10″ Model

  1. The cover is 1” thick and composed of organic cotton and organic wool batting.
  2. The second, third, and fourth layers are 3” of organic Dunlop latex.

12″ Model

  1. The cover is 1” thick and made of organic cotton and organic wool batting.
  2. The second, third, and fourth layers are 3” of organic Dunlop latex.
  3. The bottom layer is 2” of organic Dunlop latex.

Additional Services

PlushBeds does not offer installation or haul-away of an old mattress.

When you receive a shipping notification email, PlushBeds includes contact information for services in your area that provide setup and old mattress removal. These services cost $99 and up.

Sleep Trial

After delivery, you have 100 nights as a sleep trial to test out the Botanical Bliss mattress in your own bedroom.

Before you can make a return, you must try the mattress for 30 nights. If you decide to return it before that break-in period has finished, a $99 fee is deducted from your refund.

To return the mattress, the company will arrange to have it picked up curbside at no cost to you.

In addition to the standard sleep trial, PlushBeds offers a free one-time comfort exchange during the first 100 nights. To do this, you call the company, and they will send a Talalay latex comfort layer that is softer or firmer based on your needs. This is sent to you at no charge.

To install this new comfort layer, you unzip the mattress and swap the Talalay layer for one piece of the Dunlop latex. You then mail the Dunlop latex piece back to the company. PlushBeds covers this return shipping cost.

A 25-year limited warranty covers the Botanical Bliss mattresses.

During the first ten years of the warranty, PlushBeds will replace or repair a mattress with defects in workmanship or material.

During years 11-25, PlushBeds will either repair a defective mattress and charge a handling fee or will replace the mattress at a prorated charge starting at 50% of the purchase price in year 11 and increasing gradually each year after.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

Overall, the Botanical Bliss mattresses perform well when it comes to motion isolation.

Latex has more bounce than most other mattress foams, and for this reason, transfers more motion than material like traditional memory foam. But for all but the most sensitive customers, it insulates motion well enough to prevent sleep disruptions.

Edge Support

Edge support from the Botanical Bliss mattresses is average to slightly above average. The softer you have your mattress configured, the more likely it is that there will be significant sink at the edge of the bed. In most cases, the latex is firm and resilient enough to avoid feeling unstable when sitting or lying on the exterior of the mattress.

Heat Retention

Latex does not absorb significant amounts of body heat, and the latex layers in the PlushBeds mattresses are aerated to permit airflow that keeps them cool.

The wool and cotton in the cover are both breathable materials that can help wick moisture away from the body to promote cooling.

Latex has few issues with off-gassing compared to other materials. The organic materials used in these mattresses do not include chemicals that put off odors.

Any “new mattress smell” when it is first installed will quickly dissipate.

For many sleepers, latex works wonders when it comes to support. It has enough responsiveness to make sure that each part of the body gets the cushioning that it needs so that spinal alignment is maintained. At the same time, its resilience makes it easy to change sleeping positions without ever feeling stuck in the bed.

Latex conforms to the body but without the deep hug of memory foam. The ability to swap layers to adjust the firmness feel gives each person with a Botanical Bliss mattress more flexibility in finding a level of conforming that works best for them.

Latex, especially Dunlop latex, is a material that has excellent durability, and there are no thin or weak latex layers in this mattress. In addition, the material is produced according to high standards and without chemical fillers or adulterants, boosting the expected longevity of the Botanical Bliss mattresses.

Latex is widely recognized as the optimal mattress material for an active sex life. It quickly rebounds to retake its shape as you move on it, giving a bouncy feeling that easily accommodates rapid movement on the mattress.

What Type of Sleeper is Suited to the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress?

The Botanical Bliss mattresses are well-suited to the majority of sleepers. The combination of bounce and contouring from the hefty latex layers makes this mattress able to accommodate sleepers of virtually all types.

The model — Medium or Firm — that works best for an individual sleeper depends in large part on that person’s weight and primary sleeping position.

Side sleepers: for people who spend most of the night on their side, both the Medium and Firm can work well. People who weigh less than 130 pounds will generally find more contouring and pressure-point relief in the Medium than the Firm; the reverse is true for sleepers over 230 pounds.

Back sleepers: the Firm Botanical Bliss models are a fantastic fit for the majority of back sleepers of any body weight. The latex permits just enough contouring to keep the spine aligned without causing too much sink. The Medium firmness option is a solid option for back sleepers who have a lighter body weight.

Stomach sleepers: for stomach sleepers of any weight, the Firm mattress can offer excellent support without causing them to feel stuck in or suffocated by the bed. The Medium will most likely be too soft for stomach sleepers except those who weigh less and put a lower amount of pressure on the mattress.

It is important to keep in mind that the adjustability of the firmness level means that people of any weight or sleeping position can make adjustments after the mattress is delivered in order to fine tune the feel to best suit their pressure points.

Our Verdict

The Botanical Bliss product line from PlushBeds offers luxury mattresses made with high-end and environmentally responsible materials. Few other mattresses can boast that all of their components are made according to standards as lofty as the ones met by the certified-organic wool, cotton, and latex in these beds.

The commitment to quality starts in the production of these materials and continues into the performance of the mattress. The latex that powers the Botanical Bliss line provides a blend of pressure point relief with bounce.

Customers can choose between two firmness levels on delivery, but the exact feel of the bed can be modified by rearranging the layers after opening the zippered cover. This flexibility helps ensure you can get the comfort and support you need.

The only serious downside to these mattresses is their price tag. While most customers find that the price is justified by the materials and performance, the cost may be out of reach for a significant portion of people shopping for a new mattress.
