The Level Sleep mattress takes a novel approach to providing support. Rather than count on one single firmness level to relieve pressure points, the mattress surface has different firmness zones tailored to give proportional cushioning to the body.
This design works to give the shoulders, lower back, and lower body just the right amount of support to keep the spine aligned. Research studies have returned impressive results in reducing back pain among sleepers using this mattress.
Level Sleep offers a full year to test out the mattress with the ability to return it at any time if you’re unsatisfied, and over the long term, the company backs their product with a lifetime Forever Warranty.
For people shopping for a new mattress, especially side sleepers, the Level Sleep mattress is an innovative and promising option to consider.

The Level Sleep mattress does not have one consistent firmness level across the surface of the bed. Instead, it uses what the company calls TriSupport that is made up of differentiated firmness levels at different parts of the mattress.
In this design, the 22 inches at the top of the mattress are the softest and are meant to go under your head, neck, and shoulders. The next 10 inches are a firmer lumbar support section to go under the torso and back. The rest of the mattress is medium firm and is meant to support your body from the hips down.
The Level Sleep mattress is only sold through the company’s website.
There are two layers in the Level Sleep mattress. The top is 3” of responsive polyfoam. The second layer is 4” of support polyfoam. The top 3” have varying levels of firmness in 3 different zones.

Level Sleep Mattress Performance
The responsive polyfoam in the comfort layer of the Level Sleep mattress does an effective job of isolating motion. While a small amount more motion is transferred relative to traditional memory foam, it is not enough to disturb most sleepers.
Edge support in this mattress is limited. There are no edge reinforcements, and as with most foam beds, the foam has a tendency to compress more deeply at the bed’s perimeter.
The top level of foam will retain some body heat, but the Level Sleep mattress does not sleep hotter than most all-foam beds.
When it is fresh out of the box, you should expect the Level Sleep mattress to give off a light odor. While noticeable at first, the smell will fade away within hours or a few days at the longest.
The Level Sleep mattress takes a different approach to providing support at the body’s main pressure points. Softer foam near the shoulders helps reduce impact at that joint while the reinforced torso and lumbar area keeps the back from sinking out of alignment with the rest of the body. The medium firm bottom section can cushion the hips and the lower extremities.
This model takes the concepts of responsiveness and pressure point relief to a new level, and studies have reported meaningful improvements in back pain and sleep quality in people using this bed. While these studies were commissioned by the company, they did involve double-blind design to keep this from influencing the results.
Conforming on the Level Sleep mattress varies based on the zone. The top of the mattress has the greatest amount of conforming as it is intended to cushion the shoulders with more hug. The lumbar area has minimal conforming to support the torso, and the bottom section has moderate conforming to support the lower body without excessive sink.
No long-term data is available about the durability of the Level Sleep mattress, but if used properly, the zoned nature of the foam should help it avoid wearing down in areas where other mattress sometimes give out. The mattress is also backed by a lifetime warranty.
The Level Sleep mattress is not optimal for sex for two reasons. The material has limited bounce, and this can make it harder to move on top of the mattress, especially on the two softer sections. Additionally, the zoned design may be disruptive in some positions as most couples will not be accustomed to having three different firmness levels in one bed.

What Type of Sleeper is Suited to the Level Sleep Mattress?
The Level Sleep mattress isn’t designed to be a perfect fit for any sleeper. Instead, it works best for side sleepers, some back sleepers, and for people with a conventional body shape.
Side sleepers: the Level Sleep mattress works best for side sleepers, especially those under 230 pounds. The top layer gives extra cushion to the shoulders, which can be a high-impact area for people on their side, while the lumbar support keeps the rest of the torso and spine aligned. People over 230 pounds may find that the mattress has too much sink in the top or bottom section.
Back sleepers: for back sleepers, this mattress may be too soft in the zones other than the lumbar section. The exception is for sleepers under 130 pounds who will not sink as deeply into the mattress. A concern for people over 130 pounds is that the upper and lower bodies will sink out of alignment with the back that has the firmer lumbar support.
Stomach sleepers: the extra soft top section could spell trouble for many stomach sleepers who may feel as though they are being suffocated by the mattress. Too much lumbar support without a firmer surface for the shoulders can cause hyperextension of the spine. This will be even more of an issue the higher a person’s body weight.

Few companies in the mattress industry undertake detailed scientific research to evaluate the performance of their product. Level Sleep took that risk, and the studies have shown impressive improvements in support and reduction of back pain.
The key to this performance is the company’s three-zoned design that offers different firmness levels for different parts of the body. For most side sleepers, this design is a unique way to cushion the body and relieve pressure points.
The 365-night sleep trial with no break-in period and the lifetime warranty are major selling points for this mattress as well. Even customers who may be skeptical of this design can take comfort in knowing that they have a full year to try out the mattress risk-free.
